1. United looked certain to make Ederson their first signing of the summer transfer window after agreeing an initial £35m fee with Atalanta.
2. The deal was delayed after Ederson was handed a late call-up to the Brazil World Cup squad. Nevertheless, the deal was still on track to be announced in July.
3. Prior to their defeat to Norway last weekend, reports began circulating in Brazil that a deal was falling through and that Ederson would not be moving to Old Trafford.
4. The Reds quickly rebuked those claims but speculation surrounding the transfer has remained.
5. Fabrizio Romano claimed an underlying knee issue has derailed the transfer following a medical examination in the UK. Reports elsewhere agreed that Ederson's move to Old Trafford was off.
6. It's understood an initial medical during the World Cup is thought to have raised concerns about Ederson, who missed some games with a meniscus injury in his knee last season. United haven't revealed what the issue is.
7. The midfielder is now undergoing more detailed assessments in Manchester
8. United insist the deal has not been cancelled and if all goes well with further medical tests the deal will be confirmed.
9. In the meantime, the Reds are trying to get other transfers over the line as pre-season preparations continue.
