The transfer saga surrounding Johan Manzambi is not over yet, with Aston Villa hoping to hijack Newcastle's move for the Freiburg midfielder.

Although Newcastle United have agreed a deal worth around €60 million with SC Freiburg for Johan Manzambi, Aston Villa have seemingly not given up hope of signing the Swiss international.
According to Sky Germany, Villa have renewed contact over a deal for the midfielder as they look to beat Newcastle to the signing of the highly rated 20-year-old.
However, Newcastle remain optimistic about receiving the player’s approval, with a final decision expected imminently.
Manzambi played a key role for Switzerland at the World Cup before suffering a knee injury that ruled him out of their final two matches.
The highly-rated midfielder remains under contract with Freiburg until 2030.
