WC form sees Everton make approach for free signing – Toffees ‘move financially attractive’

Everton have identified Ørjan Nyland as a target this summer, after his displays for Norway at the World Cup.

The 35-year-old was the No.1 for Sevilla before losing his place to Odysseas Vlachodimos last season. The latter returned to the La Liga side on loan from Newcastle United while Nyland leaves as a free agent.

Nyland’s limited role didn’t stop him from featuring for Norway at the World Cup, where he conceded seven goals from five matches.

His national team are out of the tournament after losing the quarter final to England at the weekend.

WC form sparks Everton interest

The stopper has to sort out his club future as he’s currently without a team since Sevilla released him. He’s unlikely to be short of options, especially after his fine displays at the World Cup.

That’s according to El Desmarque, who claims his form for Norway has only increased interest in him.

Everton have joined the race and have expressed their desire to sign him for free, and the outlet insists this is a ‘clear sign’ of a rise in his value. The Toffees have made an initial approach in the last few hours.

David Moyes’ plan not convincing

Jordan Pickford is the No.1 for the Premier League side and Mark Travers was his backup last season. 31-year-old Tom King, who has a contract until 2027, was the third choice.

The trio are still at Everton, who want the Norway international as Pickford’s deputy. The Toffees ‘move is attractive financially’ to Ørjan Nyland but not sporting wise as he won’t enjoy regular minutes.

Nyland is also attracting interest from Feyenoord, plus clubs in Germany and Italy. He has to weigh up his options and then decide whether to accept Everton.
