Manchester United are working to complete a deal to sign Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old is in the final two years of his contract with Villa, and has a release clause worth £35 million which United are expected to trigger.
Villa, meanwhile, are wrapping up the signing of Yohan Manzambi from SC Freiburg, but are essentially left powerless in their attempts to keep Tielemans.
The Belgian joined Villa on a free transfer from Leicester City in the summer of 2024, and his sale will be banked as pure profit as a result.
Tielemans has made 134 appearances for Villa and opened the scoring in the club’s 3-0 win over Freiburg in the Europa League final in May.
Villa are also expected to lose Lucas Digne to Paris Saint-Germain as the left-back also has a release clause in his contract.
The France international has impressed PSG in this World Cup, and would add experience to their youthful squad.
It is believed that Digne's release clause is worth less than £10 million.
