An Italy youth international midfielder has signed a Leeds United deal.

Italian youth international midfielder Kenneth Mensah has signed his first professional contract with Leeds United.

Mensah, 17, spent the end of last season on loan to National League North side Scarborough Athletic having made his debut for United’s under-21s following fine progress with the club’s under-18s.

The midfielder scored five goals in 22 appearances for the under-18s last season and the teenager has now signed his first pro deal at Leeds, penning terms on a two-year contract until 2028.

A statement from Leeds United read: “Leeds United are pleased to announce Academy midfielder Kenneth Mensah has signed a first professional contract with the club.

Youngster signs two-year deal

“The 17-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, committing his future with the Whites until 2028.

“The youngster made 22 appearances for Rob Etherington’s Under-18s last term, scoring five times, and made his debut for Scott Gardner’s Under-21s. Kenneth also enjoyed a productive loan spell at National League North side Scarborough Athletic towards the end of the campaign.

“Capped by Italy at youth level four times, Mensah’s international U16 debut came as a substitute against Germany, before facing the same opposition once more and Czechia twice.

“Everyone at Leeds United would like congratulate Kenneth and we are excited to see his progression over the coming years.”
