Manchester United stars have wasted little time in showing their support for the club's transfer swoop for Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans.
United duo Luke Shaw and Joshua Zirkzee have 'liked' Fabrizio Romano's post regarding the transfer, as the club prepare for a return to the Champions League. The Reds have activated a £35m release clause in the Belgian’s contract and United are in talks over a possible move to Old Trafford.
It would be the second midfield addition Michael Carrick makes this summer, having signed Andrey Santos from Chelsea earlier today. Tielemans played a key role in Villa's Europa League winning campaign, and it’s understood Unai Emery wanted to keep the midfielder at the club next season.
The 29-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Villa Park, but Villa are powerless to the midfielder exploring a transfer, due to the aforementioned clause.
There’s reportedly interest from other Premier League clubs, but Tielemans is said to prefer a move to Old Trafford. The move for Tielemans comes after United stalled in transfer talks for Atalanta's Brazilian midfielder Ederson.
The Manchester Evening News understands that United are seeking to renegotiate the deal for Ederson after medical tests raised concerns about a knee injury sustained last season ahead of his £35million switch.
United have been long standing admirers of the Belgian international Tielemans , who shone for his nation at the World Cup.
Tielemans played a starring role in Belgium's comeback against Senegal, but was forced to miss Belgium's defeat to Spain in the quarter finals after picking up an injury in the warm up.
They were knocked out of the tournament after a 2-1 defeat to Luis de la Fuente's side, and Tielemans will now enjoy a brief break before joining his new team-mates in Manchester.
