A new face checked in and a star returned from injury as Leeds United’s players returned from their summer breaks today.

Seven weeks on from the final game of the 2025-26 season at West Ham, the majority of the Leeds squad checked in for the first day of pre-season for testing at Leeds Beckett University.

Leeds United used social media to share a clip of their players returning which included a first sighting of summer signing Harry Wilson with his new team mates, fresh from joining Leeds as a free transfer upon his contract at Fulham expiring.

Captain Ethan Ampadu, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach, Joe Rodon, Jayden Bogle, Jaka Bijol, James Justin, Sean Longstaff, Dan James, Willy Gnonto, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Lucas Perri and Alex Cairns were also all pictured returning in addition to the club’s Bulgarian international midfielder Ilia Gruev as he recovers from injury.

Gruev’s end to the season was cut short as he suffered a meniscus knee injury but the midfielder shared an update about his recovery at the end of last month and the 26-year-old was always expected to return for pre-season.

Four men missing from the footage, as expected, were United’s quartet of internationals who represented their nations at the World Cup in Brenden Aaronson, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Noah Okafor and Ao Tanaka. The quartet are all returning at a later date.
