Dan Burn has lifted the lid on what it's like to play with England superstar Jude Bellingham after the Real Madrid ace saved the Three Lions' World Cup dreams in Miami.

The 6ft 7in Newcastle United defender replaced Bellingham on Saturday night in Florida after he'd scored two crucial goals to get England into the semi-finals for only the second time since 1990. Bellingham's offensive contributions at this tournament have proved to be crucial, with six goals in the States so far.

Burn went on for Bellingham in extra time at the weekend and had high praise for his team-mate.

The Newcastle defender said: "Jude is amazing. I've said it before. Jude does a lot of work that goes unnoticed.

"He creates goals out of nothing, so I'm very happy to have him in our team."

Bellingham wasn't the only big-name to be taken off in Miami, with Erling Haaland also withdrawn before the end, meaning the much spoken about battle between Burn and the Man City star didn't unfold.

When asked if that came as a surprise, Burn said: "No, I think it was a tough game. The conditions to be honest, I wish that game was indoors because I think you would have seen a lot better game.

"With the conditions, I can understand why he went off."

The good news for England and Argentina is that the clash with the South American side will be played under the roof in the air-conditioned Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Burn admits the fraught contest against Norway, in which Alexander Sørloth failed to square a pass to Erling Haaland that would have almost certainly made it 2-0 to the Scandinavians, was intense.

But the ex-Brighton and Birmingham man did get on and was delighted to enjoy the moment at the final whistle.

Burn said: "Yeah, stressful. I'd much rather be on the pitch than on the bench because it is stressful, but yeah, I'm just delighted to get on the pitch and help the lads get through."
