An Academy full-back and regular under-18s captain has signed his first pro Leeds United contract.
Leeds United Academy full-back and regular under-18s captain Will Firth has signed his first professional contract with the club.
Firth, 18, made 25 appearances for United’s under-18s or under-21s last season and captained the under-18s nine times.
The teenager bagged experience against senior sides with outings in the Vertu Trophy as well as the National League Cup and Firth has now signed his first pro contract, penning terms on a one-year deal.
A Leeds United statement read: “Leeds United are pleased to announce Academy full-back Will Firth has signed a first professional contract with the club.
“Across the Under-21s and Under-18s in the previous term, the versatile defender made 25 appearances and scored two goals. He has now penned a one-year deal with the Whites.
“Showing his leadership qualities, Firth captained the U18s last season on nine occasions, as well as featuring 15 times for Scott Gardner’s U21s.
“The 18-year-old gained valuable experience against Sky Bet League Two sides Fleetwood Town and Accrington Stanley in the Vertu Trophy alongside three outings in the National League Cup.
“Everyone at Leeds United would like to congratulate Will as he continues his development within the Academy at Thorp Arch.”
