Falkirk and Brentford reaction as EFL title-winning midfielder makes loan move to Bairns

Falkirk boss John McGlynn delighted to bring in Brentford midfielder on loan.

Falkirk boss John McGlynn believes new loan signing Ben Krauhaus will bring experience beyond his years to the Bairns after securing a season-long deal for the Brentford midfielder.

The 21-year-old featured 40 times for English League Two winners Bromley last season on loan as the Ravens sealed a second promotion in just three seasons. Krauhaus made the move to Premier League outfit Brenford in January 2024 from Bromley and has already notched nearly 100 senior EFL appearances.

Described as a technically gifted, left-footed attacking midfielder, Krauhaus is available for Falkirk’s Premier Sports Cup match against Ayr United on Tuesday night, subject to international clearance. He links back up with his ex-Brentford B team-mate Ethan Laidlaw, who made his competitive Bairns debut on Saturday, starting the 5-0 win.

John McGlynn hails Brentford loan signing

Having finally been able to secure one of his England-based loan targets, delighted McGlynn said: “Ben Krauhaus is an attacking midfielder who was brought to our attention by Brentford. They put the player to Alan Fraser (Falkirk’s chief scout), we had a look at him and really liked what we saw.

“He is only 21 but already has nearly 100 appearances in senior football, which is an excellent amount of experience for someone so young, particularly in England where players do not always get their breakthrough as quickly.

“Ben was playing for Bromley when Brentford signed him and last season he was a big part of the squad that won promotion to League One. He therefore comes to us with a lot of experience, having already played in some big games, and that can only help us.

“This is a good platform for Ben to take the next step in his career and I am sure he will do an excellent job for us in the season ahead.”

Brentford B-team head coach Sam Saunders added: "Ben's season at Bromley was successful, and to come away from it with a League Two title and promotion to League One is a brilliant achievement.

“Now he gets the chance to test himself in a different environment, in a different country, against difficult teams.

"He'll have Ethan out there with him too, which will help him settle in quickly. We think this is a really exciting opportunity for Ben to keep developing as a men's football regular in a good team, and we wish him all the best at Falkirk."
