More change at Aston Villa with full-back exit and target identified

It is all change in Villa’s midfield this summer, while the club’s first-choice left-back is also set to depart.

Lucas Digne is set to follow Youri Tielemans out of the Villa Park exit door as a summer of change continues at the club.

Left-back Digne will call time on four-and-a-half years in the West Midlands and is poised to join up with double Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG have triggered a release clause on the France left-back, believed to be less than £10million, and the formalities will be complete once Digne finishes his World Cup exploits.

Digne played 172 times for the club during his spell.

Villa are understood to be working on a move to bring in Pervis Estupinan from AC Milan as his replacement.

Former Brighton left-back Estupinan, 28, has previously worked with boss Unai Emery at Villarreal and was a consistent performer previously in the Premier League with the Seagulls.

The Ecuador international played 22 times for Milan last season.

Villa’s Ian Maatsen, 24, looks set to be given the opportunity to stake his claim as the club’s lead left-back.

The development came hours after it emerged that influential midfielder Tielemans was to exit for Manchester United.

Tielemans, 29, also had a release clause in his contract triggered, understood to be worth £35m.

The Belgian has enjoyed three influential seasons at Villa Park after checking in as a free transfer from Leicester. Villa had offered a new deal and did not want to see either player move on.

He netted 10 goals in 134 appearances for the club, including the opener in his final Villa appearance, the 3-0 Europa League success against Freiburg.

Villa are, meanwhile, working to complete a club-record buy for Freiburg’s talented attacking midfielder Johan Manzambi.
