Romano: Aston Villa hold new talks over Estupinan deal but have ‘shortlist of three names’

AC Milan have held further talks with Aston Villa about the potential sale of Pervis Estupinan, according to a report.

While he is currently enjoying a post-World Cup vacation, seems that Estupinan’s future lies far from Milanello. Just a year after arriving from Brighton, the Ecuadorian full-back could return to the Premier League.

Aston Villa are particularly interested in the player, seeking reinforcements after Lucas Digne was sold to PSG, who met his release clause. The latest updates were reported by transfer market journalist Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel.

“Pervis Estupinan is a target for Aston Villa and is on a shortlist of three names. We’ll then see who the English club decides to push forward with,” he said (via MilanNews).

“Aston Villa have also had new contacts with the player’s agents in the last 24 hours and are working on the player: the terms and conditions need to be worked out.”

A report from Spain suggested that Deportivo La Coruna had entered the race to sign Estupinan. However, Villa are the ones leading the charge, and it would see the former Villarreal man link back up with Unai Emery.

For Milan, the important thing is to cash in, having already spent around €100m on the signings of Goncalo Ramos and Mario Gila to begin the summer.
