Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer is set to receive clarity on his future later in the transfer window. United confirmed the signing of Andrey Santos on Monday, while a deal for Youri Tielemans is close to being agreed.

United will make a third midfield signing, and it's understood Collyer's future will be addressed once the club knows how their midfield will look next season.

In the meantime, Collyer will get a chance to impress Michael Carrick in pre-season friendlies. He reported for the first day of pre-season at Carrington and will be involved in United's summer fixtures.

The Manchester Evening News understands a loan is the most likely option for Collyer, but a permanent exit is also possible.

A lot will depend on where Collyer finds himself in the midfield pecking order in the coming weeks. His main goal is to represent United, but he is prepared to leave in order to establish himself as a Premier League player.

Collyer suffered bad luck during his loan stint with Hull in the second half of last season. He was named man of the match after making his first start for Hull against eventual Championship champions Coventry, but he picked up an injury in a training session when a goalkeeper fell onto his ankle.

The ankle injury prevented Collyer from being involved in Hull's successful promotion charge, which included a play-off final win at Wembley.

Sources close to Collyer feel he will take off with a clear run of games. He is desperate to play regular football and recently visited a specialist in Spain to receive expert counsel ahead of an important season in his career.

Collyer has been tipped by coaches he has worked with on his journey to become an established Premier League player. He is capable of running around 13 kilometres per game.

The midfielder's contract at United runs until the summer of 2027, with the option of another year.
