Leeds United are now said to have been given a green light from a World Cup player as they prepare to ramp up their efforts. The Whites snapped up Harry Wilson early in the window, but they now need to get a move on when it comes to the rest of their recruitment if they want to have the bulk of their squad ready for the start of the new season.
Daniel Farke is to be handed a solid budget this summer as Leeds look to become a Premier League mainstay, and a centre-back signing is now one of the priorities following the departure of Pascal Struijk to Brighton.
A number of defenders have been linked with a move to Elland Road, and it seems one is up for the switch.
Nico Elvedi gives blessing to Leeds United transfer
Nico Elvedi-1
According to Football Insider journalist Pete O'Rourke, Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi would be happy to make the move to Leeds this summer, He said on the Transfer Insider podcast: "There's been talk that they've had one offer rejected by Monchengladbach already this summer. Elvedi would be somebody who would be a good fit for Leeds because obviously Daniel Farke has worked with him previously at Borussia Monchengladbach. Elvedi, if the opportunity was to come along, I'm sure he would be interested in a move to the Premier League and Leeds United as well.
"He's got one year left on his contract, and Monchengladbach will be keeping a close eye on his performances at the World Cup to raise his price tag in that respect. But the German club are resigned to the player moving on this summer due to his contract situation. But the worry for Leeds will be is if he continues to impress for Switzerland that other teams might come to the table for him as well."
Leeds are also said to be interested in Bosnia and Herzegovina World Cup star Tarik Muharemovic this summer, reportedly holding talks over a deal.

Elvedi was impressive in the Switzerland back line as they reached the quarter-final and ultimately lost out to Argentina in extra-time. The centre-back played all six of his nation's games in North America.
The 29-year-old 'absolute leader' is known for his pace and quick recovery runs, while he is also strong and calm on the ball. The defender is known for being a ball-playing defender, which Farke will like. The Leeds boss has worked with Elvedi previously back during his time at Monchengladbach.
