Gruda has extra incentive as he heads for perfect fit out on loan

And it appears he will have plenty of incentive to impress across the coming season.

The midfielder has re-joined the club who hired him for the second half of last season, during which time he tallied three goals and three assists.

This new loan deal is for the full season and German sources have revealed there will be an obligation to buy should he reach a certain level of appearances.

It is understood that, while the target is very achievable, it requires a minimum amount of games in each half of the campaign.

The loan and transfer fees combined would reportedly come to about £25 million.

That would match the amount Albion paid to Mainz for Gruda almost two years ago although his former club secured an undisclosed sell-on clause in that deal, according to Kicker in Germany.

Gruda said: “It quickly became clear to me that I wanted to stay at RB Leipzig.

“I was determined to make the move last winter and my first few months here lived up to everything I had hoped for.

“The style of play suits me really well and I feel completely at home within the team and at the club.

“RB Leipzig gives me the best possible environment to continue developing both as a player and as a person, while also helping the team again from the outset.

“We qualified for the Champions League together and now we want to enjoy a successful season in Europe, the Bundesliga and the German Cup.”

While Gruda is heading to familiar surroundings, there will be one big change.

Last season's head coach Ole Werner has been replaced in charge by Martin Demichelis, the Argentinian securing the post despite suffering relegation with Mallorca last term.
