AC Milan have reportedly set a €20 million asking price for Pervis Estupiñán this summer.
Aston Villa are keen to sign the Ecuador international as a replacement for Lucas Digne, who is set to join Paris Saint-Germain.
Estupiñán excelled under Unai Emery at Villarreal, where he also formed part of the defence alongside Pau Torres.
After impressing at Brighton, Estupiñán joined Milan last summer for around €20 million but struggled for regular starts in Serie A.
He started just 13 league matches and Marca reporter Matteo Moretto reports that Milan are looking to recoup the money they paid Brighton 12 months ago.
Piero Hincapié was also preferred by Sebastián Beccacece at left-back for Ecuador at the World Cup, although Estupiñán still featured in two of his country's four matches.
Meanwhile, Villa are also in the market for a new right-back, with Andrés García set to join Getafe on loan for the 2026/27 season.
Emerson Royal is one of several players Villa have considered, although it remains unclear how far talks with Flamengo progressed.
