Belgian star Thomas Meunier is set to join Sunderland as a free agent in a huge boost for Black Cats manager Regis Le Bris.
The 34-year-old defender will sign a two-year deal with the Stadium of Light club and is currently in Newcastle.
Meunier travelled into the city this morning to undergo a medical ahead of Sunderland move, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
The Belgian was at the World Cup with his country and is moving to the Premier League following his departure from Lille.
Sunderland will push for Europe next season after missing out last term, and adding Meunier to their squad is huge.
The veteran full-back brings quality and plenty of experience to the table, and Le Bris will be delighted with his arrival.
The Black Cats have yet to sign any player so far this summer and Meunier could become their first addition of the window.
While the former Paris Saint-Germain star is primarily a right-back, he can also play further forward, and his versatility could be huge for Sunderland.
