Third player on verge of leaving Aston Villa – ‘Close to finalising’ transfer agreement

Aston Villa will soon see Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne leave Villa Park this summer.

On Monday, Manchester United activated Tielemans’ £35m [€41m] release clause. The Villans, who wanted to renew his contract, were left without a chance of keeping him.

Later that day, several claims from the UK and France stated the Aston Villa left-back is heading towards Paris Saint-Germain. The two were regulars under Unai Emery when available for selection.

The Premier League side will see another player leave them soon, but on a loan transfer.

Aston Villa exit edging closer

That’s according to Marca, who claim Getafe are now closing in on signing Andrés García.

The 23-year-old had to settle for a restricted role since arriving at Villa Park from Levante in January 2025. He made 18 appearances for the Villans and it includes 109 minutes from eight matches from last season.

García has already decided to leave the Europa League winners on loan this summer. On June 2nd, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Unai Emery has given the green light for his temporary move.

Later that month, the Valencia option was no longer on the table, while Deportivo Alavés and Lyon were among his suitors.

Instead, the Aston Villa man has now decided to join Getafe. He will arrive to replace Juan Iglesias, who left as a free agent and joined Sevilla in June.

Marca claim Getafe are ‘close to finalising’ an agreement with the English club, after the latter and Emery already agreed to let him go out on loan. The Spaniard needs this to continue his development.

Deal expected to go through this week

Andrés García is now waiting for the two clubs to iron out the last details of the operation.

Marca state he may join his new teammates before their friendly against Reading later this Friday.

This shows the loan operation is at an advanced stage and barring a last-minute surprise, the move should go through.
