'Working hard' - Newcastle United star issues 21-word message after injury surgery & training…

Newcastle United injuries: Tino Livramento returned to Newcastle for pre-season training a month after withdrawing from England’s World Cup squad.

Tino Livramento could have been preparing for a World Cup semi-final with England this week.

Instead, he’s back at Newcastle United for the first day of pre-season, focused on his injury recovery.

Livramento withdrew from the England squad on the eve of the 2026 World Cup due to a calf injury. He was replaced by Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah and England have since progressed to the semi-finals of the competition for only the fourth time.

Livramento was called up to the England squad despite missing Newcastle’s last five matches of the 2025/26 Premier League season due to a thigh injury. In fact, the 23-year-old has had an injury-hit year so far, having started just four competitive games in 2026.

Livramento’s latest setback saw him undergo surgery last month with the hope of getting fit and ready for the 2026/27 season.

A Newcastle statement read: “We can confirm that Tino Livramento has successfully undergone a minor surgical procedure.

“The defender, who returned from World Cup duty with an injury, is expected to return during pre-season.

Livramento was part of the returning group of Newcastle players for pre-season on Monday but his involvement was limited due to his injury.

The full-back was pictured in the gym and shared one of the pictures on his Instagram account along with the caption: “Working hard to come back soon. Thank you for all the messages recently, I really do appreciate all of you Geordies.”
