Tarik Muharemovic
Leeds United, Sunderland and Newcastle United are all interested in signing Tarik Muharemovic. The Whites are now making in-roads over a deal.
The Bosnian was one of the best defenders in the 2025/26 Serie A campaign. He emerged as a key player for the national team at the World Cup, also playing a big role in qualification.
Sport Witness have covered how Sunderland are expected to make an offer for the centre-back. Juventus were previously keen but have now moved away and so have Inter Milan.
This is mainly because of finances and this can hand a big advantage to Leeds United.
Whites putting pressure on
Today’s Corriere dello Sport reports Sassuolo would accept Muharemovic’s sale, if a suitor offers €40m. This would guarantee them a €20m capital gain, as part of that money will go to Juve because of their sell-on clause.
Leeds United have now put themselves ahead of both Sunderland and Newcastle United for his signature.
They have increased the pressure to iron out a move, with Italian competition now firmly moving away.
The amount the Whites pay could even finance Juve’s own market. They are keen on Jhon Lucumi and they should earn enough from Muharemovic’s move to meet Bologna’s asking price.
Whites move makes most sense
Ideally, Muharemovic would play in Europe if he moves to Juventus or Inter. But at Leeds United, he could play regularly, with Pascal Struijk departing Elland Road.
Newcastle United’s backline appears quite set for next season and the same also applies for Sunderland.
A move to Leeds United will help Muharemovic grow in England and it will give him the platform to get a big move later. He is still only 23 and has a lot of time left in his career to develop further.
