Newcastle United Women have signed Scotland international striker Kathleen McGovern who recently left Hibernian.

She netted 51 goals in 65 appearances for Hibs and was part of the side that won the SWPL title in the 2024/25 season.

McGovern has also spent time with Hearts, SC Sand in Germany, and Celtic, where she won the SWPL Cup.

Internationally, she has 14 caps and 10 goals for her country at senior level.

McGovern told newcastleunited.com: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be here. I know how big the club is and I couldn’t wait to be part of it, I knew this was the next step for me.

“I want to help the club to achieve promotion. I’m a winner, I want to score goals and that’s what I’m here to do.”

Manager, Tanya Oxtoby, said: “Kathleen is a proven striker whose goalscoring record at both club and international level in recent seasons speaks for itself.

“She is powerful, energetic and clinical. We are really pleased to be adding a player of her profile to the squad and look forward to working with her.”
