Lucas Perri’s move to Leeds United hasn’t worked out as he would have expected. The keeper is now interested in departing Elland Road.
At the start of the season, Sport Witness covered comments from his agent about the spell in England. He was happy, as the Brazilian was playing regularly for the Whites.
At the turn of the year, things changed. Daniel Farke demoted him to second-choice and Perri made only three Premier League appearances in 2026.
This has led to Torino becoming a potential suitor for him and the Italian side are making in-roads over a deal.
Personal terms agreed
La Stampa – relayed by ToroNews, report that Torino’s push has led to an agreement over personal terms with the former Lyon man.
The newspaper are sure he ‘wants a change of scenery’ and is frustrated with how the last few months at Leeds United have been.
As a result, he has immediately expressed a willingness to join the Turin side. Farke’s side aren’t opposed to the deal either and they have an agreement in place to loan out the 28-year-old.
Before finalising his exit, Leeds United are waiting to sign a replacement, especially as Karl Darlow has left and is joining Manchester United.
Whites right to wait
Perri has already shown that he can hold his own between the sticks in the Premier League. He did the same in Ligue 1 with Lyon, where he was also a regular in the Europa League.
Leeds United have been linked with Zion Suzuki but they may have a proven shot stopper in the squad already. Besides, there is no guarantee about signing the Japanese goalkeeper, with other clubs also keen on him. That is why waiting to execute Perri’s exit makes a lot of sense, as they can’t take too many risks.
