Journo tells Everton £40m will be accepted for Tottenham star who is in the World Cup 2026…

Tottenham full-back has been linked with an exit in recent weeks.

It has been a fantastic start to the summer transfer window for Tottenham Hotspur. They have signed as many as six players in a bid to fix their defensive and midfield issues ahead of the new season.

The N17 chiefs will need to bring in fresh attacking players to improve the productivity in the final third. As far as the outgoings are concerned, several Spurs players are expected to find new homes. Highly-rated central defender Luka Vuskovic has joined Brighton and Hove Albion, while the likes of Cristian Romero, Richarlison and Guglielmo Vicario continued to be linked with an exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Djed Spence has also become a coveted figure in the transfer market. The full-back is entirely locked into England’s ongoing World Cup campaign. The 25-year-old has paused all discussions regarding his club future despite interest from several clubs.

Everton have been showing concrete interest in the Tottenham star in recent weeks. Djed Spence is on the Toffees’ shortlist to replace Seamus Coleman, who has left the club after 17 long years of great service.

Now, Football Insider’s transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke has advised Everton to make a £40m bid for Spence. He feels that Tottenham will accept an offer in that range for the England international.

“If a suitable offer were to come in, then they (Spurs) might look at it and evaluate it. There’s been a lot of incoming Spurs this season, so maybe they might have to balance the books in some respects,” Pete O’Rourke said on the Transfer Insider podcast (h/t Football Insider).

“But it would be a pretty hefty fee. You’re probably looking at around £40million plus for somebody like Djed Spence, and whether Everton would be willing to go to those sort of figures, I’m not too sure.”

Roberto De Zerbi will want to keep Djed Spence

Spence made 44 appearances for Spurs last season, most deputising for Destiny Udogie at left-back. After helping the North Londoners retain their top-flight status, he has played a part in all six of England’s World Cup games so far.

At 25, the English full-back would want to establish himself as a mainstay in the side. With Pedro Porro the club’s undisputed first-choice right-back, Spence will be expected to operate as his understudy next season. It is a role he might not accept and decide to leave the club for regular opportunities elsewhere, but De Zerbi will do everything possible to keep Spence after praising his character and courage before the critical final game of last season against Everton.
