Leeds United are looking to reach an agreement with Southampton soon over signing midfielder Shea Charles.
United’s first wave of players are back for pre-season testing today as Daniel Farke plans for a second season in the Premier League.
One fresh face is through the doors in Harry Wilson. More ought to follow soon so that the German can start shaping a squad capable of consolidating well in the top flight.
Leeds United await Southampton judgement on Shea Charles talks
It’s a saga that’s gone on a lot longer than Leeds would’ve anticipated. Although, it looks as though major progress was made on Shea Charles over the weekend.

Leeds had continued talks with Southampton on Friday, optimistic of finally finding an agreement after multiple offers were knocked back.
Despite Leeds looking like edging closer to an agreement, Ben Jacobs reported on Monday that there is little in the way of a concrete update.
However, Jacobs also notes that the interest from Leeds, Fulham and Crystal Palace means the Saints are set to sell.
No new developments yet regarding Shea Charles, but the volume of interest means Southampton are now anticipating a sale this summer.⬇️ https://t.co/x3tH9Prbm8

Shea Charles saga drags on as Leeds United await breakthrough

To say that Charles isn’t even a priority for our squad at the moment, it’s taken an awful long time for us to find a breakthrough.
That being said, it looks as though it’s essentially a matter of time before Southampton end up cashing in. Charles is so valuable, but not totally vital to Tonda Eckert’s plans.
His club are clearly happy to do business, but are seemingly just waiting for the optimal price to sell. But, there comes a point where they just have to accept Leeds’ offer is the best they’re going to get.
I’m not so convinced that Palace and Fulham are actually that bothered. They might well like the look of him. But, Leeds’ ongoing talks make him difficult to secure if you’re either of those other two clubs.
