Leeds United report back for pre-season as non-internationals return for training
Monday saw the first wave of Leeds’ squad return for pre-season after last season’s stunning 14th-place Premier League finish.
Up first was initial testing that took place at Leeds Beckett University, as is standard every year, before the players then get to work at Thorp Arch from hereon.

Of the first group, included are the players who weren’t on World Cup duty and therefore didn’t require extended leave.
Seen so far in Leeds’ social media content are: Alex Cairns, Lucas Perri, Jaka Bijol, James Justin, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Joe Rodon, Ilia Gruev, Jayden Bogle, Anton Stach, Ethan Ampadu, Sean Longstaff, Joel Piroe, Willy Gnonto, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dan James, Lukas Nmecha, and summer signing Harry Wilson.
Of course, there’s been no update yet on the whereabouts of Sam Byram (ongoing contract talks). Also, no footage was shown to prove whether Leeds’ loaned-out players have returned yet.
Sebastiaan Bornauw has new squad number amidst Leeds United exit links
As the club continue to keep Wilson’s new squad number under wraps, there is one player whose number at the club has changed.

Bornauw, linked with an exit of late, is no longer sporting the number 23.
Footage from the club’s social media accounts, plus Leeds Beckett University’s post on Instagram, show that Bornauw is now wearing the number 33.
While a change to a higher squad number could indicate a lesser role in Leeds’ squad, Bornauw has history with the number 33. It was the number he wore for two seasons as FC Koln – incidentally the club that are interested in signing him.
Importantly, that more or less confirms that Isaac Schmidt won’t be part of the plans, which we knew already. Schmidt previously held the 33 shirt during his one season in Leeds’ senior squad.
