Liverpool's attention has turned to midfield in their aims to bolster their squad for Andoni Iraola. The Spaniard welcomed the return of several stars on Monday for pre-season with preparations for the 2026/27 season officially underway.
Iraola, 43, has already overseen the arrival of new signings Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz, although the former's transfer was agreed when Arne Slot was at the helm. However, the Reds have yet to add to their squad since with a replacement for Mohamed Salah still yet to be secured.

Liverpool's interest in Manu Kone has reportedly reignited years after first being linked to the Frenchman. The Roma star was first linked with a move to Anfield during Jurgen Klopp's tenure with reports surfacing again just a day after Andoni Iraola held his first press conference as Liverpool boss.
According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, the Premier League giants want to add Kone - who is currently representing France at the World Cup - to their midfield with Roma under significant financial strain.
The Serie A side are needing to raise £42million (€50m) in order to meet UEFA's financial fair play regulations. Kone was subject to interest from Atletico Madrid, who were said to be confident in securing a deal for the 25-year-old worth £38m (€45m).
However, Roma are now said to have raised the valuation of Kone to £51m (€60m) after UEFA extended their July 1 deadline by a month. Liverpool's midfield struggled heavily last season with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch drastically dropping in form.
Curtis Jones update
Curtis Jones' future has been a question mark for much of the summer, as the 25-year-old has received plenty of interest from Inter Milan. The Serie A champions had a reported bid of £27m rejected for the midfielder last month, who is valued at £35m by the Reds.
With summer business set to ramp up following the end of the World Cup on Sunday, Inter have sped up negotiations with a new approach made for Jones through intermediaries, according to Ben Jacobs.

Amidst the uncertainty of his future, Iraola admitted he wants Jones to remain a Red this summer. Speaking on Monday, the Spaniard said: "I will have the chance to speak with him today.
"I rate Curtis very highly. For me, he is a great, great player, and I hope he can continue with us and continue performing the way he has been performing. It's very important that he's Scouse, that he's from here.
"I also like the personality. From the outside, at least, he looks like a player with good character, and I hope we can keep him, not only for this year but for more time."
