Man Utd have discussed 'internally' about £27m Real Madrid star

Manchester United are poised to pursue a third midfield signing this summer.

The Red Devils have been active in the transfer market and have already recruited the midfield duo of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans alongside goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

The club are still planning for a third midfield acquisition, and speaking on his YouTube channel, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Eduardo Camavinga is an option.

The Red Devils have discussed ‘internally’ in meetings regarding the Real Madrid star as they seek to pursue a defensive midfielder who can provide more intensity and physicality.

However, Romano added that Camavinga does not want to leave Madrid this summer, and he wants to be part of the next project. A deal won’t happen unless the Frenchman opens the door for a move.

United could lean towards signing Manu Kone

The Red Devils faced a couple of setbacks at the start of the transfer window. They had prioritised deals for Mateus Fernandes and Aurelien Tchouameni and could not sign either.

Fernandes chose to join Tottenham from West Ham United instead, while Tchouameni decided to put pen to paper on a new contract at Real Madrid despite the Red Devils’ pursuit.

Camavinga has been in and out of Madrid’s starting plans in recent years. Last season, the 23-year-old averaged less than 53 minutes per league game, making only 16 La Liga starts.

Despite this, his statistics were quite impressive. He won more than four duels and two tackles per outing, and also made three recoveries. He lost possession less than five times on average.

The Rennes graduate would be a perfect signing to add more resolve in the number six role, but it appears he has no desire to part ways with Los Blancos during the ongoing transfer window.

Camavinga, who was signed by Madrid for£27 million in 2021, is reportedly valued at £51m. If he decides to stay put, United should move on and pursue a deal for Roma’s Manu Kone.

The Giallorossi are more than willing to sell the Frenchman for the same price. He had a stellar World Cup campaign with Les Bleus and has his sights set on moving to the Premier League.

With Aston Villa having recently joined the pursuit, United should be proactive and seek to secure a quick deal. The Villans are short in the midfield department following Tielemans’ surprise exit and Amadou Onana’s knee injury, which could sideline him for a substantial period.
