Aston Villa‘s Andrés García is edging closer to completing a return to La Liga this summer.
The right-back had a disappointing spell at Aston Villa since joining them from Levante UD in January 2025.
Unai Emery handed him only 615 minutes from 18 matches and 109 minutes were from last season.
The manager and the Villans have already given him their approval for a transfer.
On Tuesday, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that he’s on the verge of joining Getafe on loan. The two clubs have been close to finalising the agreement and only the last details were pending.
Valencia’s unsuccessful attempt
Getafe have been provided an opportunity to sign Andrés García because of Valencia’s dithering.
Cadena Ser now claims Los Ches had practically closed an agreement with both the player and the Europa League winners in June.
However, Valencia manager Carlos Corberán blocked this operation in favour of Thomas Meunier. He’d been without a club since leaving Lille and the Mestalla club were working to sign him.
The Belgian has snubbed Corberán’s side and is now on the verge of joining Sunderland. This led to Valencia again returning for the Aston Villa player, who has decided to join Getafe.
Aston Villa exit advanced
Unai Emery’s side have sorted out the final details of their agreement with the La Liga side.
Marca now state Andrés García has already arrived in Spain to complete his loan move to Getafe. He has picked them after snubbing Valencia and others.
Getafe will make his arrival official in the ‘next few hours’.
Juan Iglesias and Allan Nyom’s exits leave the Spanish club short of options. The Villans player’s arrival should provide manager José Bordalás more options next season.
