Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest make contact for Brazilian – €16m for transfer

Dodo

Right-back Dodo is likely to leave Fiorentina, with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest competing for his signature.

The Brazilian has become one of the better full-backs in Serie A over the past few years. He joined La Viola from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2022 and has now played two Conference League finals, improving as a player during his time with La Viola.

In the 2025/26 campaign, he played 36 times in Serie A as Fiorentina went through a difficult season. Individually, Dodo had an inconsistent campaign, but he’s still attracting attention.

Exit on the way

ViolaNews are certain that Dodo will leave Fiorentina, partly because his contract runs out in 2027. La Viola have failed to secure a renewal so now want to sell.

They have signed Alex Jimenez as a replacement and attempts are ongoing to find a new club for Dodo.

Discussions were held with Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli but nothing has materialised. This leaves England as a likely destination, with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest having made enquiries.

Fiorentina have expressed willingness to sell and want €16m to €17m. A move to the Premier League would appeal to Dodo, with the report indicating that Nottingham Forest could be a favourite to sign him.

They dealt with Fiorentina when they signed Nikola Milenkovic and have a good relationship with the club.

Player likely being offered around

Considering Dodo’s contract situation, it won’t be a surprise if the player is being offered around.

Despite the belief a Premier League move is likely, Serie A shouldn’t be ruled out.

Inter have seen Anan Khalaili’s arrival collapse due to medical issues and Juve have let Emil Holm return to Bologna. Both clubs need a right-back.

Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest should be wary of that if they’re serious about the defender.
