MN: Leeds United monitoring Milan utility man – Amorim’s assessment awaited

Yunus Musah’s situation is one to watch this summer, with interest having arrived from a Premier League side recently.

Leeds United have recently made inquiries about Musah, according to MilanNews, and he is a profile that several clubs across Europe are interested in. However, Milan have yet to make a final decision on the American’s future, after he failed to find consistency with Atalanta last season.

Ruben Amorim will evaluate him closely in the month of July, during the summer training and the first weeks of preparation. Only after that will the Portuguese coach give the club clearer instructions on Musah, i.e. whether he will stay or be open to selling him.

An uncertain fate

Milan agreed to send Musah to Atalanta on a season-long loan with an option to buy last summer. Despite racking up 29 appearances in for La Dea, they were not convinced to use their option to buy, which was set at €20-25m depending on which sources you believe.

It was presumed his return to Milanello would only be in passing and that his story with the Rossoneri is over. However, Matteo Moretto reported a few weeks ago that Amorim has taken note of Musah’s versatility and wants a closer look at him.

The 23-year-old wasn’t actually called up by the United States for their home World Cup, which will have been a big blow to the player. It means he was available for the start of preseason on Monday though.
