Aston Villa have sold Lewis Dobbin to Southampton for £9 million plus add-ons.
Following an impressive loan spell at Preston North End last season, the former Everton striker was made available for a permanent transfer this summer.
He scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 39 Championship appearances last term, while also finding the net in Preston's Carabao Cup defeat to Wrexham.
Dobbin joined Villa from Everton in 2024 for a fee similar to the one Southampton will pay to sign him.
Having come through the youth ranks at Everton, Dobbin was part of a 'PSR trade' that saw him join Villa, while Tim Iroegbunam moved in the opposite direction in a separate transaction.
Dobbin's first loan spell away from Villa came at West Bromwich Albion, but he failed to score for the Baggies before being recalled in January 2025.
He then showed promise on loan at Norwich for the second half of the season, but missed the final three months of the campaign due to injury.
