It has been straight down to work for new head coach Oliver Glasner in his first week at Nottingham Forest.

The Austrian met his players for the first time when they reported for the start of pre-season on Monday. Since then, the Reds have been put through their paces at the Nigel Doughty Academy as they prepare for the 2026/27 campaign.

Forest’s squad still has a familiar look about it amid a quiet start to the summer transfer window but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from turning. The Nottingham Post rounds up the latest news and rumours…

Dodo discussions

Playing in the Premier League would reportedly be a “wish come true” for defender Dodo amid being linked with a switch to the City Ground. The right-back is almost certain to leave Fiorentina this summer and it seems he would be keen on a move to England.

That’s the verdict put forward by Italian publication Viola News. Despite talks with Napoli, Roma and Inter Milan, it is said there has been no change to the defender’s situation and that leaves a switch to the UK as an increasing possibility.

The Reds and Newcastle United are said to have asked about Dodo’s availability. The 27-year-old has 12 months left to run on his contract and is valued in the region of €16-17 million (£13.5-14.5m).

The Nottingham Post says: There has been talk of Nicolo Savona potentially heading back to Italy so full-back is certainly an area for Forest to look at. Dodo has plenty of experience under his belt, having made more than 100 appearances for Fiorentina.

Given his contract situation, the defender could be available on a decent deal. Perhaps ex-Fiorentina teammate Nikola Milenkovic could put in a good word.

Revisit Read?

Reports of the Reds making an offer for Feyenoord youngster Givairo Read have sparked debate in the Netherlands. The fee put forward for the promising 20-year-old has prompted much comment from pundits.

Forest were said to have had a €17.5m (£15m) bid for the right-back rejected. Dutch publication Voetbal International (via Sport Witness) expect Glasner’s side to try their luck again, but it seems they would need to up the amount considerably.

A figure in the region of €25m (£21m) might prompt Feyenoord to talk, it is claimed. However, pundit Dennis van Eersel suggests €30m (£25m) would be needed to seriously test the club’s resolve.

He is quoted as saying on the RTV Rijnmond podcast: “Nottingham Forest’s offer cannot be taken seriously. It’s like me going to a Porsche dealership and saying: ‘I’m seriously interested in this car; I’ll offer €8k.’ €30m or more. €25m? Then at least you can start talks to see if we can reach the figure I’m looking for.”

The Nottingham Post says: Forest will have a ceiling of what they would be prepared to pay for Read and it is unlikely they will be cajoled into going beyond that. It has already been suggested they consider the player’s price as being too high, even if he is a bright prospect.

Signing players with the potential to improve and increase in value remains a key part of the club’s transfer strategy. It would be no surprise to see them swoop for young talent this summer, but it would have to be for the right price.
