Tarik Muharemovic
Leeds United have now sealed a move for Sassuolo’s Tarik Muharemovic, beating competition from many other clubs.
On Tuesday, Sport Witness covered that the Whites were pushing for the Bosnian’s signature. Newcastle United and Sunderland were also in the race but the Yorkshire club beat their rivals.
Leeds United agreed to meet Sassuolo’s valuation. More updates are now emerging about the player and when the deal will go through.
Definitive agreement reached
SassuoloNews report that Leeds United and Sassuolo have worked intensely to sort out the final details. An agreement of €40m now exists and it will go down as Sassuolo’s record sale, beating Gianluca Scamacca’s move to West Ham.
The outlet expect the Whites to announce the transfer ‘in the next few hours’.
The transfer is racing ahead, with the 23-year-old already undergoing a medical.
Juventus had a 50% sell-on clause in his contract. As a result, they will earn €20m from the move and they can use that to potentially sign Jhon Lucumi from Bologna.
Excellent deal for Leeds
Muharemovic was one of the best defenders in Serie A last season. He was excellent at the World Cup for Bosnia, showing that he can make a mark at the highest level.
The fact that Juve and Inter wanted him is also an evidence of his quality.
The defender thrives on the ball but his tall stature allows him to dominate off the ball too. His frame allows him to win the ball back and win aerial battles. He can play both in a back three and a back four, which is another positive for Daniel Farke’s side.
