Leeds United want €25m defender as-well-as Muharemovic – Not instead of

Leeds United are continuing to push for a deal for Udinese defender Oumar Solet, despite the impending arrival of Tarik Muharemović.

Tuttomercatoweb report that Leeds are continuing their ‘pressing’ for Solet, targeting him alongside Muharemović rather than instead of him.

Leeds continue to push

The website explains that Udinese continue to be active on the transfer market, with potential sales and new signings on the cards.

Oumar Solet is one of those who could depart before the summer comes to an end. That’s because Leeds’ interest in the defender ‘continues to grow’.

According to TMW, Daniel Farke’s side are ‘very keen’ on the French defender, despite having spent heavily to bring to bring Muharemović to Elland Road. The 26-year-old would be a signing who arrives ‘as well as’ rather than instead of the youngster.

Udinese are eyeing a deal worth €25m, a percentage of which would go to his former club Juventus. Indeed, It would be one of Juve’s most significant deals of the summer.

Leeds need defenders

There’s no indication of Leeds would be willing to pay that figure. But their interest is something that Sport Witness have covered this week.

A report yesterday explained that they were pushing ahead with a deal and had been in contact with Oumar Solet’s entourage about a deal.

It seems Farke and co are determined to strengthen their defensive options this summer. They’ve lost Pascal Struijk to Brighton, leaving them with Jaka Bijol, Joe Rodon, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Maximilian Wöber as their central defensive options.

But the latter is expected to leave and Bornauw has also been angling for a departure for a while as well. If both were to depart as expected, signing two centre-backs would make sense in that regard.

That certainly seems to be the plan at this moment in time, with TMW insisting that they’re pushing ahead with their efforts to get Solet from Udinese this summer.
