Leeds United has agreed a deal to sign Tarik Muharemović from Sassuolo, a transfer that will provide Juventus with a significant financial boost because of the 50 per cent sell-on clause included in the defender’s contract.
Muharemović came through the ranks at the Allianz Stadium before Juventus sold him to Sassuolo in the summer of 2024. Since making that move, he has continued his development and established himself as an important member of the squad.
Juventus set to benefit financially
-----------------------------------
The defender helped Sassuolo secure promotion to the Italian top flight in his first season at the club and continued to impress during their first campaign back in Serie A. His performances attracted the attention of several leading clubs.
Inter Milan was [among the clubs reported to be interested in signing Muharemović](https://talkjuve.com/2026/07/02/inter-milan-continues-to-push-to-sign-bosnia-star-despite-juventus-interest/) over the past few months, while Juventus also considered bringing him back to strengthen their defence. The Bianconeri held both a buy-back clause and a sell-on clause in the agreement with Sassuolo.
However, Juventus has chosen not to exercise the buy-back option. According to [Sky Sports Italia](https://sport.sky.it/calciomercato/2026/07/14/leeds-muharemovic-sassuolo-calciomercato-news), the club is instead set to receive 20 million euros through the sell-on clause following Muharemović’s transfer.
Leeds complete major transfer
-----------------------------
Leeds has agreed to sign the defender for 40 million euros, representing a substantial profit for Sassuolo after paying only a modest fee to acquire him from Juventus in 2024.
The transfer highlights the value of including future sale clauses when developing and selling young players. Although Juventus will not regain Muharemović’s services, the club will still benefit significantly from his continued progress and increasing market value.
Juventus will hope that more players developed through its Next Gen system follow a similar path by establishing themselves elsewhere before earning the club significant income through future transfers. Such deals provide an important source of revenue, even when Juventus is not directly responsible for negotiating the player’s eventual move.
