Brighton's strongest XI as £50m Luka Vuskovic starts after Tottenham exit

Here’s how Brighton could line-up after the £50m arrival of defender Luka Vuskovic

Brighton's record signing Luka Vuskovic will hope to make an instant impact this season.

The 19-year-old Croatian international joined for £50m from Tottenham and will help Brighton compete in the Premier League and Conference League next season.

"It was always Brighton. There were a lot of other calls, but as soon as I spoke with the coach, it was just Brighton.

"The league is for sure one of the best in the world, and I really like the project here.”

Here’s a Brighton XI, including Vuskovic and new Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna ...

Bart Verbruggen - GK

The Dutch goalkeeper im pressed last season and has long been linked with a move to Bayern Munich. Keep an eye on this one and it could have knock on impacts for Jason Steele, Carl Rushworth and James Beadle. If Verbruggen stays, then he starts.

Mats Wieffer - RB

The Dutchman wants to play in midfield but may have to settle for a right back spot once more. He faces fresh competition from specialist right back Costinha, who joined from Olympiacos.

Luka Vuskovic - CB

Here he is... the £50m man. Brighton have huge faith in this 19-year-old Croatian and expect him to be a regular in the first team from the start. He fee surpasses the £40m they paid for Georginio.

Lewis Dunk - CB

The 34-year-old will once again be vital this term as Brighton juggle Premier League with European football once again. The arrival of Struijk will likely see his minutes managed a little more this term.

Ferdi Kadioglu - LB

What a season he had for Brighton. The full back suffered World Cup disappointment with Türkey but at least he will return fit and raring to go.

Carlos Baleba - CM

There's always the Man United speculation but if he stays, you kind of feel he owes Brighton a high level season. Very poor last year and fans want to see Baleba at his best. He's one of the best around when he's fit, firing and fully focussed. Pascal Gross provides back up.

Yasin Ayari - CM

The Sweden international has been a real success story under Hurzeler for the past two seasons. Brings the intensity and commitment that Hurzeler loves. Will hope to increase his goal out put this season.

Zadok Yohanna - RW

Currently so many options for Brighton in this position. Yankuba Minteh, Diego Gomez, Amario Cozier Dubbery, Harry Howell and the £22m new arrival of Yohanna. Fans will be eager to see the young Nigerian in action after Brighton nipped in ahead of the likes of Newcastle to land the young talent from AIK.

Jack Hinshelwood - No 10

The academy graduate finished the season as first choice in the No 10 role and no reason why he shouldn't keep his spot. Links well with the front man and always capable of popping up with a goal. £40m man Georginio is pushing for minutes.

Yankuba Minteh - RW

If Kaoru Mitoma is struggling, then Minteh can easily switch flanks and offer width on the left. Gomez can play left and Brighton have also been linked with a summer move for Ruben Vargas. Tommy Watson also remains a left wing option.

The 35-year-old remains the main man. Evan Ferguson (if he stays), Stefanos Tzimas and Charalampos Kostoulas are fighting for minutes.
