Club waiting for Aston Villa and Brighton bids – Premier League duo have ‘already done their sums’

Sevilla believe that Ruben Vargas has successfully proved himself at the World Cup, and will bring in Premier League suitors soon, with Aston Villa and Brighton and Hove Albion keen.

ABC Sevilla report that the Spanish side need sales this summer to bolster their finances and do their own business. And Vargas is one of the players who can bring in a profit.

Aston Villa and Brighton move

The newspaper explains that Sevilla believe that they won’t be able to keep Ruben Vargas for much longer. The Switzerland winger, as they had anticipated, has increased his value at the World Cup this summer.

The Swiss team performed excellently and he, despite physical issues, has demonstrated his qualities too. The belief is that he is a player with the attacking qualities to compete in a team of a higher calibre than Sevilla.

According to ABC, teams in the Premier League have ‘already done their sums’ on the 27-year-old. Sevilla believe there is a possibility of securing a fee close to €20m. Given he cost just €2.5m a year and a half ago, that would be a significant profit for the Spanish team.

Aston Villa’s long-standing interest

Aston Villa and Brighton are two of the teams to have still have the winger on their radar. Sevilla are now waiting for either side to make their moves. But the growing feeling in Seville is that Sevilla need to start planning to replace the Switzerland winger.

Sport Witness have reported on Aston Villa’s interest in Ruben Vargas for months. The last of those reports explained that he would want to join Unai Emery’s side this summer as they can offer Champions League football.

The winger was put on Aston Villa’s radar last year by former director of football Monchi. He never ended up signing hi while he was in charge, but it appears he remains on the list. Sevilla are now waiting for them, or Brighton, to come forward formally.
