Everton have already added Hayden Hackney and Merlin Rohl to their midfield permanently ahead of the upcoming season, but David Moyes is keen for even more.
The Toffees completed a deal for Hackney earlier in the window, while Rohl's loan move was made permanent, as the Scot looks to bolster the squad ahead of a push for European football this season.
Idrissa Gueye is out of contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, although talks are ongoing over a new deal, but the club are now moving ahead with their hunt for potential long-term replacements by targeting a deal to bring in a highly-rated Brazil international.
Everton Eyeing Douglas Luiz Deal

According to Football Insider, Everton are eyeing a move to sign Juventus midfield star Douglas Luiz this summer.
Luiz, who has been described as 'world-class', spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa from the Serie A giants, having struggled to make an impact in Italy during his first full season in 2024/25.
But injuries and poor form meant he struggled on his return to the Premier League, and neither club took up their option to make the move permanent.
Everton are now one of the clubs who have been offered the Brazilian on a permanent deal this summer, as Juventus look to ship him out following his disappointing spell.
It's understood that Moyes is a big fan of the 28-year-old, and views his quality and experience as something that could greatly aid his Everton squad. Luiz, meanwhile, would also be open to making the switch to Merseyside, as he prioritises a return to England's top flight.

Luiz Would Be Perfect Everton Signing

While Luiz had a tough time of things during the 2025/26 season, his quality cannot be questioned. He has had phenomenal campaigns in England in the past, and he is still relatively young at 28, which suggests he has plenty of time to rediscover his best form.
Everton are a team that like to have experience in the first-team, and after allowing Seamus Coleman to leave and with Gueye looking increasingly likely to move on too, they need some experience.
Tim Iroegbunam, Hayden Hackney, and Harrison Armstrong are all relatively young and inexperienced at the top level, while James Garner and Rohl are only just entering their prime years. Luiz would be a fine addition to help compliment them, and add more quality to a team looking to push themselves next season.
