49ers plot five more Leeds United signings with £34m deal imminent

Leeds United have a second signing imminent in centre-back Tarik Muharemovic, and are wanting a host more not too long after.

The 49ers have already flexed their muscles this summer with Leeds’ first two bits of business being close to confirmed.

Already, Harry Wilson is in the doors and getting to grips with his new home. Elsewhere, Tarik Muharemovic is due in the UK soon for a medical.

Leeds United plot five more signings after £34million Tarik Muharemovic

Bosnian giant Muharemovic is the second signing expected through the doors at Thorp Arch. On Tuesday evening, it was revealed that United had agreed a £34million deal to sign the 23-year-old centre-back.

Of course, it’s a huge statement and one that rightly has fans excited. But as Noel Gallagher once said: “Am I happy with that? No I’m not, I want more!”

The main priority after this is likely to be the goalkeeper slot, after Karl Darlow’s exit and Lucas Perri agreeing to join Torino, subject to the 49ers sourcing his replacement.

Now, the Daily Mail’s Simon Jones report that Leeds are after five more signings. A goalkeeper is interestingly not named, but instead talks are ongoing over Shea Charles, while four more positions are identified:

“They remain in talks for Southampton’s Shea Charles and still want another centre back, left back, attacking midfielder and a striker,” Jones wrote.

Leeds United absolutely need new goalkeeper and striker more than any others

I can see the logic behind all of those positions named here:

To me, a new goalkeeper to take the starting spot, and a new striker to compete with Calvert-Lewin are the two main focuses we have to take on now.

Ideally, with Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, we have enough cover to not rush into a signing. The same cannot be said in the goalmouth, where we need a signing as soon as possible.

Once we have Muharemovic and a new goalkeeper, I can feel relaxed that we don’t need anything as a matter of dire urgency.

Our starting lineup with Muharemovic and a ‘keeper is more than good enough already to cruise to safety. Add even more and we’re truly in business.
