Leeds United have been heavily linked with numerous players so far this summer.
Some reports regarding targets have certainly been more reliable for others. For example, United’s pursuit of Shea Charles has been well documented.
Fabrizio Romano has also essentially confirmed that Tarik Muharemovic will become a Leeds player this summer.
But another player Leeds have also been linked with is Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. If the 49ers were considering signing the Japanese international, they should certainly reevaluate their stance on Suzuki.
Leeds United transfer target Zion Suzuki linked with PSG
Previous reports have stated that Suzuki would cost any potential suitor around £26million.
Whilst the 23-year-old is undoubtedly a talented goalkeeper, Leeds should already be moving on to looking at other targets.
Just a couple of days ago, Suzuki was linked with Newcastle. Reports are claiming that his agency has been in contact with the club over a potential move.
Newcastle and Leeds are not the only Premier League clubs said to be interested in Suzuki. Aston Villa have also found themselves in the middle of multiple reports regarding the goalkeeper.
However, if La Gazzetta dello Sport’s recent report is correct, then we, alongside Newcastle and Villa, can forget about signing Suzuki.
The Italian outlet claims that Paris Saint-Germain want to sign the Parma shot-stopper. Negotiations are said to have already begun, with talks progressing quickly.
If PSG’s interest is genuine, Suzuki could surely not turn down the chance to play for the back-to-back European champions, who are certainly the best team in the world at this moment in time.
Major red flag surrounding Zion Suzuki
I’m almost certain that, as a player, Suzuki would elevate our squad drastically.
But given that his agency is doing everything in their power to engineer a move away for him this summer, I can no longer say I’d want Suzuki at Leeds.
Suzuki has been linked with a new club every five minutes, it seems, this summer. All of this talk will surely be frustrating the poor Parma supporters, with their ‘keeper seeming desperate to escape Italy.
Even if we did sign Suzuki, let’s say, it is clear that his only intention would be to use us as a stepping stone.
The second he begins to hit form, who’s to say that he would not be linked with a move away from Elland Road?
I’m not naive enough to think that as we establish ourselves as a Premier League outfit, players won’t use us as a stepping stone. But the way Suzuki and his camp have gone about trying to get a move away this summer just stinks.
For this reason, United should stay well clear of Suzuki.
With the number of clubs Suzuki has reportedly been in talks with this summer, there’s no way you can tell me that he has his heart set on a move to Leeds.
Talented player, yes, but it’s not the sort of circus we should involve ourselves in. The 49ers should move on and begin to evaluate other targets.
