A new fan park could be created at Leeds United's Elland Road stadium if recently submitted plans secure approval.

The club recently completed the purchase of the warehouse building and units located next to Stadium Way Car Park, and has submitted a full planning application to Leeds City Council to convert part of the building.

Covering a total floorspace of about 25,000 sq ft, the proposed 2,000-capacity venue would feature two levels of bar and seating areas and an outdoor courtyard.

The designs also include space for a variety of food and beverage retailers, along with a new roof.

It aims to provide a welcoming and active space for supporters attending Elland Road on a matchday, with the potential to host an array of events, including live screenings.

The fan park application follows on from the approval earlier this year of plans for a major expansion of Elland Road, increasing capacity up to about 53,000. Work on the new West Stand is now underway.

Leeds United are working with Leeds City Council on the wider regeneration of the Elland Road masterplan area, with mixed-use development planned to the west, north and east of the stadium, along with a mass transit system to get people to and from Elland Road.
