Manchester United have already thrown a spanner in Leeds United’s summer plans after persuading Karl Darlow to swap Elland Road for Old Trafford on a free transfer.

Darlow’s decision to ignore an offer to stay at Leeds and join Manchester United has impacted the Whites’ transfer plans, as they were not expecting to lose the Welshman.

Leeds underlined the depth of their rivalry with Manchester United by not even mentioning Darlow’s move to Old Trafford in the statement confirming his departure.

He joined Gordon McQueen, Eric Cantona, Rio Ferdinand and Alan Smith to go straight from Leeds to Manchester United, and one more former White could end up at Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United want ex-Leeds star to replace Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona, and while he impressed, the Catalan giants decided against paying the £25m fee needed to secure him on a permanent deal.

Barcelona want to sign him on another loan, but Manchester United are determined to ensure that they finalise his permanent departure.

Manchester United still expect Rashford to move on this summer, and according to the Guardian, they have already lined up his replacement.

The Premier League giants will push to sign ex-Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville from West Ham in the ongoing transfer window once Rashford leaves.

He is expected to leave West Ham following their relegation from the Premier League, and Manchester United want to sign him as an option to play on the left.

Manchester United believe they can get the Dutchman for a fee of £30m this summer, and there are suggestions that his West Ham contract has a release clause.

The Red Devils recently signed Youri Tielemans for a fee of £35m from Aston Villa after triggering the release clause in the Belgian’s contract.

Crysencio Summerville would prefer to play in the Premier League over Saudi Arabia

The former Leeds winger’s performances in the latter half of last season, despite West Ham’s relegation, have made sought-after player this summer.

Manchester United have held talks with the player and his representatives and are waiting to finalise Rashford’s departure before making a move for him.

He has also attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, but the winger is likely to prefer to play in the Premier League rather than move to the Middle East.

A move to Manchester United appeals to him, and he is likely to get a tasty reception at Elland Road if his next visit is in Red Devils colours.
