Leeds United are closing in on their second signing of the summer after reaching an agreement with Sassuolo for defender Tarik Muharemovic on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old has been Daniel Farke’s preferred choice to replace Pascal Struijk, who left for Brighton earlier in the transfer window.

With the clubs now in agreement over a £34m fee and personal terms already sorted, Muharemovic is expected to complete the final formalities before sealing his move to Elland Road.

Leeds will look to sign one more centre-back, but all focus is now on finalising the arrival of the Bosnian defender and getting all the formalities of the transfer done.

Tarik Muharemovic medical scheduled

Leeds are racing towards finalising the transfer as personal terms are already in place and he will soon sign a lucrative contract with the club.

According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, he will undergo a medical at Leeds United today ahead of finalising a transfer.

The centre-back will fly into Leeds today and will be put through his paces during a medical at the club’s training ground ahead of completing the formalities.

Muharemovic has agreed to sign a five-year contract and is expected to become the highest-paid player at Leeds, surpassing Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s wages.

Leeds signed Harry Wilson on a free transfer last week and will soon unveil their second summer signing once the defender completes the medical and signs on the dotted line.
