Coventry City will complete the transfer of Aurele Amenda today.
That’s according to Absolut Fussball journalist Christopher Michel who claims the Eintracht Frankfurt defender has landed in England and has had his medical. He expects the formal signing to happen on Thursday.
The centre-back is expected to sign a four-year contract and finalise a £17m transfer to the Sky Blues, becoming their third signing of the summer.
Frank Lampard has already secured a permanent deal for Frank Onyeka after last season’s loan spell and has brought Loum Tchaouna from Burnley.
Amenda will become his first defensive addition though, with the 22-year-old World Cup commitments with Switzerland having ended at the quarter-final stage.
The central defender started his career at Young Boys, with whom he did the Swiss double in 2023, before moving to Eintracht in 2024 on a five year contract.
He struggled with injuries in his first season in the Bundesliga but established himself more in the team in the second half of last season and has made 42 appearances for the German outfit.
Celtic were credited with an interest in a loan deal earlier in the summer but City have made the move and he will challenge Liam Kitching, Bobby Thomas, Luke Woolfenden and Joel Latibeaudiere in the middle of the defence.
