'Extremely grateful' - Ex-Town star Conor Chaplin joins League One giants

The attacker, who joined the Blues from Barnsley in 2021, had a glittering five-year stint in Suffolk, securing back-to-back promotions to reach the Premier League while scoring 55 goals in 174 games in all competitions.

He spent last season on loan at boyhood club Portsmouth, with Ipswich allowing him to depart at the end of his contract this summer in order to secure regular game time.

The 29-year-old will hope that it comes at Leicester, who were relegated from the Championship last season. The Foxes have had a torrid couple of years, which saw them drop divisions in consecutive seasons. Now, they will look to rebuilt in the third tier under new boss Russell Martin.

Chaplin has signed a deal that will run until 2029 at the King Power Stadium.

“I’m very excited to be here," he said . "Leicester City is a massive club with a brilliant fanbase, which has been obvious to me every time I’ve competed against them.

"I’m extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to play for this great club, and I will give everything, every day, to achieve what we set out to. I’ve had some great experiences in my career so far, but there is a lot more I want to achieve.

“I like to play with an all-in attitude, energy, and a desire to help the team in any way I can. I’m looking forward to showing the supporters what I can bring. I can’t wait to meet the lads, get out on the training pitch with the manager and his staff to help this team as much as I can.”
