White, who joined the club’s Academy in 2016, spent last season on loan in League One with spells at Leyton Orient and Bradford City.
The 23-year-old previously spent the first half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Crewe, scoring three goals in 20 appearances, before returning to Newcastle and making his first-team debut for the Magpies in a 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth later that season.
While progressing through the youth ranks at United, he also enjoyed loan spells with Hartlepool United, Exeter City and MK Dons.
He will now join Lee Bell’s side, who finished 11th in League Two last season.
