Leeds United transfer target Michele Di Gregorio
Leeds United are in the hunt for a goalkeeper and another name is now on their shortlist.
The Whites lost Karl Darlow at the end of his contract, and he’s since joined Manchester United. Lucas Perri is still at Elland Road but his future is far from certain.
Sport Witness have covered Torino’s interest in the Brazilian, who has agreed terms with the Italian side. Leeds United are waiting to sign a replacement before letting Perri join the Turin club.
Some developments are emerging in Italy and they point at the Yorkshire side’s plans in the goalkeeping department.
Domino effect at play
Today’s Corriere dello Sport reports Leeds United are interested in Juventus’ Michele Di Gregorio. The Italian is likely to leave the Old Lady, who have identified Emi Martinez and Guglielmo Vicario as possible replacements.
TuttoSport go a step further and put forward a domino effect involving the Whites.
They clarify that Daniel Farke’s side have made ‘very timid enquiries’ about Di Gregorio. The reason why they’re not too concrete is because Zion Suzuki is their main goalkeeping target. Juve have also made enquiries about the Japanese stopper but England is a likelier destination.
This is closely linked to Perri’s future, with Torino ‘very keen’ on the former Lyon player.
Our take: Suzuki a better option
Di Gregorio had a disappointing 2025/26 campaign. At one point, he was dropped by Luciano Spalletti and Mattia Perin filled in quite well in his absence.
The 28-year-old’s stock has clearly dropped and his impressive 2024/25 campaign feels like an over-performance.
Suzuki is younger and better on the ball. He is unlikely to cost a huge amount and his career graph is going up, unlike Di Gregorio.
