Fulham
Fulham, Chelsea and Coventry City could battle for RC Strasbourg’s Martial Godo this summer.
He spent three years at Fulham and left them for the Ligue 1 side for £6m [€7.1m] last summer. The winger had a standout season in France, managing 16 goals and six assists from 44 matches.
This caught Chelsea and Coventry City attention, and Fulham have joined the chase.
Fulham, Chelsea and Coventry City keen
That’s according to Africa Foot, who mention Chelsea and Coventry City when reporting the latest on Fulham.
Both Xabi Alonso’s side and Coventry have already shown interest and positioned themselves to sign him.
Fulham, however, are determined to bring their former player back to the club.
The London club regret their decision to sell him and want to rectify it this summer. To convince the England-born Ivory Coast international, Fulham are offering him a key role in Álvaro Arbeloa’s new project.
Africa Foot state Fulham’s ‘show of confidence’ can tip the scales in their favour. Godo has to decide, as there are other English clubs, like Chelsea and Coventry City, in the mix.
Summer move difficult
The Ivorian has a contract until 2030, and Transfermarkt value him at €22m. This puts the French club in a strong position to negotiate his exit.
RC Strasbourg are reluctant to let Martial Godo leave cheaply, and Álvaro Arbeloa’s side are well aware of this.
Therefore, the negotiations could be challenging, but Fulham’s determination to wrap this operation quickly would accelerate transfer talks. There’s no mention of the fee needed to convince the French club.
Strasbourg are owned by BlueCo, who also own Chelsea. This connection can benefit the Blues, which is another factor that makes it complicated for Fulham.
