Everton target Brooke Norton-Cuffy
Everton have been keen on Genoa’s Brooke Norton-Cuffy for a while, and could now hold formal talks.
The former Arsenal talent has developed well in Italy. In two seasons, he’s become one of Genoa’s most important players, with major Italian sides already linked.
Late in the winter transfer window, the Toffees appeared favourites to sign the right-back. A deal never went through but claims around a move to Merseyside have emerged again.
Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered how Everton remain interested in the Englishman. Financially, a deal isn’t expected to be difficult, with Genoa demanding around €20m to execute his sale.
Talk around the ex-Arsenal talent is growing and his exit is likely.
Formal discussions incoming
La Repubblica report Norton-Cuffy is back training with Genoa. Question marks around his future are growing, with the newspaper clarifying ‘pressure from the Premier League’ is increasing.
GenoaOggi offer more information, confirming Everton are the leading candidate for the right-back.
Fulham are also interested but they are currently watching from afar. The Toffees made an initial approach for Norton-Cuffy in January, although it didn’t get very far.
Now, they are expected to heat up once again. The outlet expect David Moyes’ side to execute formal negotiations soon and it is believed a deal can go through for only €15m.
Possible bargain deal
Norton-Cuffy’s current Genoa contract runs until the summer of 2029. He is one of their most important players in defence and attack and is key to carrying the ball forward. From a physical perspective, he has come a long way and thrives on covering distance.
During his time at Arsenal, he had several loans across England and shouldn’t have problems with a return.
Everton want a right-back and they could sign a reliable one for a very good fee. Norton-Cuffy is likely to develop further and at the prices being mentioned could be a bargain.
