Sunderland have confirmed another outgoing transfer as their summer business picks up pace
Timothée Pembélé’s move to Ligue 1 side Le Havre has been confirmed.
Pembélé has had two loan spells with the French club over the last two seasons, and with his chances of regular playing time on Wearside remote has now made the switch on a permanent basis. It brings to an end his three-year association with Sunderland having joined from PSG on deadline day in summer 2023. Having struggled initially with injury and fitness, he leaves having made eight appearances for the club.
No fee has been disclosed, with Sunderland unlikely to have recouped much if any of the fee they paid to sign the right back. However, the move gives the 23-year-old the chance to kickstart his career and frees up space on Sunderland’s wage bill.
A club statement said: “Sunderland AFC can confirm that Timothée Pembélé has joined French side Le Havre on a permanent deal. The 23-year-old played eight times in red and white after joining in September 2023.
“The full-back also had two loan spells at Le Havre during his time on Wearside, featuring 35 times in Ligue 1. All at Sunderland AFC wish Timothée the best of luck in the next steps of his career.”
